Speak with your child and create a list of ideas that they suggest, then work from there. If they cannot decide, give suggestions and use what you already know that they enjoy. Their room should not be like your own, it must be flexible and play-adequate; meaning that it needs to be able to function both as a sleeping area and a playroom unless you have a separate room for them to play in.

Overall, this is a good experience to not only enjoy spending time with your child, but involving them in the process means that they are less likely to want a change as quickly, and will create lasting memories and inspire their own creativity.
